A COLD & OPPORTUNITY

Baby!  It’s cold, outside!  22 Fahrenheits to be exact.  Missing from the picture so far, this year is any amount of the cold dust, otherwise known as snow.

I have escaped the previously inevitable picturesque blanket of white that has proven my driving skills have been driven downward by, a stroke several years, ago.

After the stroke, I had some medical tests to examine, and determine changes in my abilities.

My reaction time has taken a turn for the worse.  Not getting worse from this point in time but, worse from that point in time, leveling to a new plateau where I have remained for several years.

My driving skills are still very good but, knowing the reality of the effect the stroke had on me, I prefer not to test my reaction times on icy roads.

Putting that to the test under those conditions, is a selfish act on my part.  There are too many other drivers who may be put at risk.

While it may be cold, my opportunity to continue driving through the winter is still in tact as next week’s forecast shows no snow on the horizon.  At least, not yet.

I’m not holding my breath because, a, it’s uncomfortable, and b, it has snowed as late as April. I’m just glad for the no-snow environment surrounding me at this time.
