The year’s first snow is coming soon. It’s been predicted a couple of times, now. So far, snow is a no go. Just a matter of time before the inevitable.
I’d rather skip the whole episode. Living in the snow is not my number one preference, and when I think about it, living in the snow is not even in my top ten. You’re probably wondering what I’m doing here if, that’s how I feel. I live here…..I don’t know….
Snow is nice to look at…..from a distance. In other words, my ideal place to live would be a valley where there might be some rain, and white caps in the surrounding hills, and mountains.
To be honest, my reflexes have not been what they once were. After a stroke of a few years ago, things have never been quite the same. My wife does most of the driving, especially in the snow. I am a more than adequate driver, still pretty good but, I’m also my own most critical critic. Perhaps I have to be that critical, knowing something is not as it once was.
From Spring, through Summer we’ve had our clocks set ahead, one hour to preserve some daylight. As of this morning we have made the big move to standard time, again. All Spring, and Summer we have been living in a time capsule as we always do but, under false pretenses. It wasn’t the real time.
Now that Winter is upon us, it seems as though we don’t play with the time capsule, and live in time as it was first prescribed. But, wait….who wrote the prescription? Time has existed since the beginning of time. (yes, I am very aware of my previous statement. Always thought of Yogi Berra as a wise philosopher.)
When did we begin, and why did we begin accounting for time? Remember the lessons on sundials, and water clocks?
I decided to find a refresher to answer the questions of lessons once learned but, long forgotten as I take time for granted just because, it exists.
