A Little Radio Activity

Not talking, AM or, FM.  I go for health care, and they give me radio-activity.

A radio active bone scan, and to do this, I get radio actively injected.  Okay, legit medical practice but, still sounds a little eerie.  That was the first part, after taking some comparative pictures.

Part 1.5 means I’ve got to drink anything I like but, lots of it before coming back for part two several hours later, radio actively illuminated for the big show.

This test is so much fun as you lie down for part two.  I’m thinking, go ahead, shoot your pictures.  Not that simple.  Lie down on the most uncomfortable excuse for a ‘bed’ they could come up with but, that’s not even the best part.  I’m dared to lie perfectly still for these pictures.

No bathroom breaks, no nose scratching, no tossing, turning, squirming or, they will come in, and increase the radio activity to somehow insure lack of movement.  No, I made that part up but, you really can’t move.

I was a good patient but, got no lollipop for my kind gesture on Friday.

Saturday was even more fun.  An MRI.  I have never had an MRI before but, certainly no worse than a bone scan…..right?

At first, the MRI looks like more of the same without all the radio activity but, with a bigger machine.  Same awful excuse for a bed.  And yes, once again a very friendly threat to not move for about an hour.  Not a muscle.  These people have no reason or, common sense.  What if I have to cough or, sneeze?  The answer is simply, ‘Don’t!’

Don’t sneeze or, cough?  I get it, these are not people with reason. These are not people. This is Science-Fiction.  They are sending me through this gigantic machine, and I’m not coming back.  It’s a set-up.

Not only am I told not to move a muscle but, pay no mind to anything sounding like a heavy artillery attack.  I am not stupid.  This is a set-up.  They’re dispensing with me.  I’m headed to another planet.  I don’t know.  My mind is fragmented now, and they’re going to inject me with something before they leave.  What would you think?

That’s it.  I’m sure I’m not coming back, good-bye.  Somebody tell my wife in the Waiting Room.

Here it is, Sunday, and I made it back to write about this experience.

The doctor gets the report for all this testing on Tuesday, and I’m hopeful he can then, deflate this foot.

As an addendum, I must add that on Friday, I heard another patient being quizzed by, a medical professional.  He asked, ‘No spider bites, twists, turns, sprains, injuries at work?’  She replied, ‘No…….just an unexplained swollen foot!’

Science Fiction.

Footing Needs Entire Body Cooperation

The Doctor is not pleased.  All the tests are in.   Stay home, and off of the foot.  That’s what one doctor has said I should do.

Why not?  It really does hurt.  It seems to hurt to limitless bounds as I focus on the pain.  So, why waste my time focusing there when, there’s so much more to focus upon.  Okay, natural human instinct.  Ow, and focus elsewhere after that very brief moment.

This sounds grim.  It’s only grim if, I want it to be that way. Things happen to the human body, and each of us are responsible for our own.

It’s not grim, and I have more to celebrate than not.    So far, the tests have shown I don’t have a cancerous bone condition.  They did find a condition is manifesting with my swollen foot.  It has maintained a position, there.   Even though the condition is beyond my foot and, is circulating throughout my body.  Just an unexplained settlement….so far.  Worthy to note once again, it has settled nowhere else yet, even though it is circulating through my entire system.

We know, ‘it’ is not cancer. We know several other things ruled out, and also know what it could be.  We also know that so far, it appears treatable. There are several possibilities which may be explained in more detail by, another battery of tests when, I see the Rheumatoid Specialist in a week.

Stay home from work?  You’re kidding.  People hurt, and go to work.  It is part of life sometimes, and yet, it doesn’t have to be, with progress.  Progress is what I’m making.  Don’t misunderstand as I have a great employer with, a contingency of management that sees I’m off my foot as often as possible.  So, yes, they make it easier to go to work.

I am progressing through this situation with good medical help, and advice.  I’ve got a concerned employer, and can come home at the end of the day to put the foot to rest.

Focus on what I must accomplish to satisfy my life.  The pain will exist or, it won’t, and eventually the pain will go missing.

Reality is a tough one to sync to, once in awhile.  However, only then can there be progress.

What’s not to celebrate, exactly?

Another Left Foot Feeture

When does it end?  My foot is as troublesome as it has been for the past month.

My left foot maintains swelling, and I’m back with the Podiatrist, yesterday.

The Podiatrist widens his suspicions to what might be causing the problem as it may not be limited to the tendinitis, and could include gout among other possibilities.

Meanwhile, the left foot is a very large specimen compared to the right.  ‘Couldn’t you just let the air, out?’  To which the doctor does not find my humor as funny as I do.  Possibly putting my humor, or lack of it in place, he begins a series of three momentary painful shots to the top of my foot.  Possibly his sense of humor, answering mine in some abstract way.

My wife was there, and she is looking on as I receive these inoculations.  My chance to play it up for all it might be worth.  ‘Ow, ow!’  ‘You’re going to do another one?’  ‘In the top of my foot, like the others, ow, ow!’  The empathy factor had risen like the morning sun.  Worked like a charm.

I took it almost, like a man. Not to insinuate that all men receive pain with better attitudes, and more strength than, women.  There is that reputation we’re suppose to live up to but, all along that reputation has been a falsehood strictly by, gender.

I know lots of girls who could take me down without much effort. In retrospect, I can say, I knew lots of girls capable of the task from the first grade, forward.  No, I’m not a ‘wuss,’ but, telling it like it is, and was.

More lab work is ordered for which I must partake in, today.  I’m really thinking on dispensing with all of this, and letting the air out, myself.

Two Feet Left

I have two feet left not, two left feet.

Feeling less pain, today.  In fact, the only real pain is coming from the cortisone port of entry.  Nothing as it has been the past couple of weeks.  Swelling is still up there but, the pain is diminishing.

Employment in tact, I will be re-deployed to the sales floor, today.  I will prep with a new pair of shoes.  Price wise, I’m tempted by, the Shop Your Own Shoes Shoe Store but, I have been wearing a shop it yourself pair (my 3rd pair) of shoes for almost two years. They have escalated my foot problems bringing me to agonizing pain, and a visit with the Podiatrist.

Pain, and I don’t do so well with one another so, I will take the proper steps to….did I say, ‘proper steps?’  I wasn’t even thinking of those terms in this particular context.

Anyway. I’ll do what’s right, and buy a good pair of shoes.  ‘….proper steps’…pretty clever, huh?  Careful with the kudos, could stretch an ego muscle out of shape which could be……painful.

Pain, and I should maintain a distance.

Most humbly, Dave.

P.S.  Bought new SAS shoes.  Almost $200 on shoes???????  I spent almost $200 on shoes…..Am I crazy?  Probably, not……

Anchovies, Returned!

My anchovies are being returned, at least for the moment.

Maybe this isn’t gout.  It could possibly be a mysterious foot swelling implant from somewhere else in the universe.  Consider, everything.  Why is ‘Men In Black 3′ coming out at this time?

My uric acid levels came back, normal.  So, now what?  The foot is still swollen with pain.

Went back to hospital for x-rays, and to continue the mystery, all came back, normal in the picture department.

My negotiations for a reprieve on the diet have paid off.  I am one heck of a negotiator.  I’m sure the doctor had a change of heart due to my expertise on whining, ‘pllleeeaase,’ and this had nothing to do with lab exam results.

New med. for possible infection, and doctor follow-up on Tuesday morning.

On another note, the Cubs have blasted their way in to St. Louis with 4 runs on 4 hits in the 1st.  This calls for a celebration……pass the anchovies, please!

They Took Away My Anchovies

Got a confirmation from the doctor, yesterday.  Gout.

No problem.  Get me a medicine, make the swelling go down, it won’t hurt, and everything will be wonderful.  Right, doc?

There is a med that will assist.  Good, I’m out of here…..He hands me a piece of paper.  Wait, this isn’t a prescription for the pharmacy.  ‘No’ he replies.  Then, what?

A diet.  Oh, good, that’s what I wanted.  A diet.  A diet?  ‘You can’t take away my anchovies…you can’t do that!’  I’m hoping for some negotiation here but, there is none.  He is relentless.  No more hot dogs.  My breakfast!?  Is he out of his mind?

‘How am I suppose to eat a pizza without, anchovies?’   He answers, ‘Maybe you shouldn’t be eating pizza.’  ‘Huh, what?’  ‘Am I misunderstanding, you?’  There was no misunderstanding, and you ought to see the rest of this list.

I have a momentary change of heart as a profuse, sharp pain strikes at my foot. Glad for the moment to receive any direction off my beaten path.  But, only for that moment.

He continues with a pleasant disposition.  ‘I will call in a prescription for you but, this diet is of the utmost importance.’  The RX has side effects that need not be pointed out with specificity.  The side effects are why, I am staying home from work.

I’m thinking he gets joy from antagonizing me with these little visits.  I’m not necessarily getting an exuberant happiness from our little visits, together.  Especially as of late.  If he’s getting all of this happiness, why isn’t he paying me to visit?  Why do I, have to pay him?

Maybe he’s thinking people like me are psychologically, fragile.  I get the impression, he gets the impression that, I visit with him because, I am a practicing masochist with a twist of sadism.

I vehemently, and unequivocally deny these charges!  I am here to tell you, I am not!  Ow!

NuPathe MIGRAINE STOP

Millions of Americans literally suffer from migraine headaches and the residual symptoms.  A few of us suffer from virtual headaches on a case by, case basis as we allow them to occur.  American politics which is the mentor for the epitome of selfishness brings it on for me.

I’m addressing those literal migraine sufferers in this post.  Perhaps a product is in your midst to curb the migraine terrorist activity attacking your body.

Upon hearing of this product, I went to their website where I couldn’t find enough information but, became enthused about NuPathe’s involvement with several treatments involving the central nervous system.

NuPathe  is a publicly traded Neuroscience company via NASDAQ.

Price to earnings makes this an expensive stock but sometimes,  you go on a feeling.  Properly interpreted that is a speculation, and you can have too many ‘spec plays’ in a portfolio.

Don’t follow my path as an investor to NuPathe without studying the stock knowing what you invest could disappear in to oblivion.
